Actor John Anderson died August 7, 1992. He was 69.
Anderson was born in Clayton, Illinois on October 20, 1922. He began acting on a Mississippi showboat at the age of 20.
He served in World War II. Following the war, he got his master’s degree in drama from the University of Iowa.
Anderson started his acting career in earnest when he began starring in off-Broadway and Broadway productions, including Cat On A Hot Tin Roof.
Instead of the movies, Anderson began his screen career on television as a regular on the The Legend of Wyatt Earp in the mid 1950’s.
His first movie role was a used car dealer in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho in 1960. Other movie credits include Geronimo (1962), Ride The High Country (1962), and Deadly Innocents (1990), his last film.
Anderson was a familiar face on episodic television for four decades, appearing in Gunsmoke, The Rifleman, Twilight Zone, and Quantum Leap.
He died of a heart attack in Sherman Oaks, California on August 7, 1992.
